Revolutionizing Healthcare: Blockchain's Secure Future

Theory & Proposal

Blockchain's immutable feature enables e-health data to be stored securely, asserting data privacy and integrity.

The study proposes a blockchain-based framework, SCALHEALTH, for electronic healthcare systems, focusing on secure transmission and management of patient data. It utilizes Hyperledger Fabric consortium and Ethereum platforms to establish a secure and decentralized network for managing patient information. Authentication protocols and encryption methods ensure confidentiality and integrity of data, while non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are utilized for authenticating patient prescriptions.

Findings

Using two types of blockchains, our framework records all system transactions, providing an added level of security.

Simulations demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed blockchain structure, particularly in terms of scalability and transaction processing time. By employing separate blockchains for each hospital, the system achieves significant improvements in throughput, resource utilization, and energy consumption compared to traditional single-blockchain approaches. The proposed framework offers a secure and efficient solution for transferring and managing patient data in electronic healthcare systems.
